Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Riviera Maya

Vivaha

Indian weddings atGrand Velas Riviera Maya

Riviera Maya, Mexico

The luxury option on this list. All-suite, AAA Five Diamond, with a convention centre and a ballroom on site large enough that weather stops being a question. Less is published here than anywhere else we researched, and that is the honest trade you make for bespoke handling.

Why Couples Choose It

What this resort actually commits to

Rain genuinely is a non-event

There is a convention centre and a separate ballroom on the property, either of which can absorb an outdoor event you had planned elsewhere. Not a tent, and not a restaurant cleared at short notice.

Vegetarian and vegan are standard, not special requests

Their own wedding material commits to both, and the culinary team curates Indian menus in house. Velas is a chef-driven house and the food is the reason people choose it.

A named South Asian programme

Their South Asian offering is branded Vivaha, and the ceremony is something their wedding team describes in its own words rather than something you explain to them from scratch.

Know This Before You Fall In Love

The published limits

Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.

  • Less is committed in writing here than at any other resort on this list. The mandap and the fire ritual appear in their marketing, and we treat marketing copy as a description rather than a permission.
  • Expect a preferred-supplier model for décor and audio-visual, so bringing your own team may cost more or may not be possible.

One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.

Before You Commit

What we get in writing for you

These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.

  • Open flame and the mandap, in writing, before you commit to a date.
  • Whether an external Indian caterer is permitted at all.
  • The music curfew, which matters for a sangeet and is not published.
  • Room block terms, including how many rooms hold the space and what happens if the block shrinks.

Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
