Dulha & Dulhan
Indian weddings atDreams Playa Mujeres
Playa Mujeres, Cancún, Mexico
An all-inclusive on a quiet stretch north of Cancún, running the most developed South Asian wedding product we have found at any chain. It takes all ages, which matters far more than it sounds when the guest list runs from a grandmother to a toddler.
Why Couples Choose It
What this resort actually commits to
The baraat is a scheduled event, not an improvisation
Their programme lists the baraat as a named event with a coordinator on hand to direct the processional and options for the groom’s entrance. Most resorts we researched publish nothing at all about the baraat.
A chef who specialises in Indian food
The reception is built by a chef specialising in Indian cuisine, and the menu is vegetarian-first rather than vegetarian-on-request. That ordering tells you who the kitchen is used to cooking for.
The mandap is included and decorated
Part of the ceremony inclusion rather than a line item you negotiate, with a backdrop and drapery.
Three outdoor events can each have an indoor room the same size
The main ballroom divides into three, with two further rooms beside it. If the weather turns you are not choosing which event survives.
Know This Before You Fall In Love
The published limits
Every venue has them. Most planners let you discover them at contract. We would rather you weighed them now, while changing your mind is free.
- The South Asian programme is only available alongside a room block, and a minimum applies.
- Weddings are normally booked about a year ahead unless the coordinator makes an exception, and there is a cancellation penalty once a date is held.
One thing in its favour that is easy to miss: this resort takes all ages. Several highly rated properties in the same bracket are adults-only, which quietly rules them out for a wedding that travels with grandparents and small children in the same room block.
Before You Commit
What we get in writing for you
These are the questions that decide whether a wedding works at a property, and the answers change by resort and sometimes by venue within one resort. We put them to the wedding office and get them confirmed before you sign anything.
- Open flame for the havan. Their published material covers the mandap and says nothing about fire, and we will not let you assume the two go together.
- Whether an outside Indian caterer may be brought in, since the programme is built around the in-house kitchen.
- The music curfew, which is not published for this property.
Planning is free, and it stays free. We are paid by the resort on your guests' room block, which is why we can afford to tell you when a venue is wrong for you.
